Hugo graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in 2018. He completed 3000 hours of classroom curriculum, which includes over 550 hours of clinical practice. His motivation to become an RMT was inspired by his wife who had been in multiple car accidents and was experiencing pain and discomfort daily. Hugo was eager to help her recover and to provide pain relief for her without the use of medication. He strongly believes that the treatment of soft tissues through massage therapy can help decrease musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction without pain medication, which often comes with a host of side-effects to the body.

Through massage therapy, Hugo is also able to carry out his passion of promoting good health and helping others. Along with massage treatments, he also encourages his patients to actively participate in their own recovery through therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, stretches, and strengthening exercises.

Hugo provides the following services:

  • Active & Passive deep tissue techniques.

These techniques work by applying contact and pressure to specific soft tissues/muscles of your body and then using precise movements to release adhesions.

  • Work related pain disorders.

Two of the main culprits for a lot of work related pain disorders are from poor posture (sitting and slouching forward in front of the computer; and from repetitive stress injuries. Repetitive actions may include constant typing, leading to chronic joint pain from inflammation. Other work related conditions include and are not limited to: chronic low back and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive stress injuries, nerve impingement.

  • Post MVA injuries and recovery.

Our bodies are not designed to take any impact. When we experience trauma to the body, muscles are strained from protective spasms, ligaments and tendons may be sprained. Injuries from motor vehicle accidents can have lasting effects on the body that can manifest as pain or discomfort. Massage therapy can help alleviate pain and muscle tension.

  • Sports related injuries and recovery.

Sports injuries treated include tendonitis, muscle strains, ligament sprains, plantar fasciitis. All of these result from trauma or repetitive use during any sports or activities involving intensive physical exertion.

  • Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization for Upper & Lower body. Helps to enhance proper scar formation after injuries to maintain range of motion and to promote quicker recovery. To learn more about IASTM, please watch a short video with this link.
  • Kinesio/Athletic Taping for injuries and prevention.

Kinesio taping promotes joint and muscle stability and encourages lymphatic flow. This will help the injury site heal faster so you can get back to sports and activities sooner.
